What's Next? - Involve Others
Once I have written my book, I will have laid out my vision of an economic system that will allow unemployment and poverty to be dramatically reduced. My ultimate goal is to see the problems of unemployment and poverty completely eliminated. However, before any changes can be made to economic policy, my ideas need to be reviewed and critiqued.
I’m not worried if my vision turns out to have flaws that need to be fixed. I’m not even worried if someone else starts from scratch and develops a better vision for how our economy should be run. The goal is to find a way to run the economy better. If all my book does is stimulate others to think more creatively, it will have served its purpose. If a lot of people believe that solutions exist to the problems of unemployment and poverty, it is only a matter of time until they are found.
I’m not sure how mainstream economists are going to react to my ideas. My guess is that many of them will dismiss me and my ideas without much thought. My hope is that some will take me seriously.
Ultimately, ideas about economics need to be accepted by the public at large. While I will delve into technical issues as necessary, I will work on ensuring that my ideas are easy to understand and communicate.
